Why use a Mastering Engineer?
Mastering is your final stage of quality control for your music or other audio. It can be invaluable to have another set of ears on your your mix, especially someone with a different listening environment tuned for a flat transparent response. In the era of home studio production where a piece of music can be written, produced, and mixed all on a single set of speakers, it can be essential to get collaboration from a mastering engineer. Your work has specific needs that are different from everyone’s else’s, and no plugin preset is going to understand your artistic intent like an experienced mastering engineer.
What is Mastering?
Mastering is intended to optimize your audio for reproduction on all different playback systems. It is a process that involves equalization, compression, saturation, stereo imaging, and limiting tools to take your mix to the next level, and then optimize the volume, loudness, and dynamic range based on the genre.
My Process
My viewpoint is unique because of the range of audio jobs/industries I have worked in, and my long career of communication with clients all over the world. Collaborative work is my life, and I want to know everything about your project, what influenced it, and what your vision is. Holding degrees in both music composition and sound design, I have very sharp ears, and my passion is helping others elevate their final product through great audio!
My Tools
Every project requires its own unique tools and mine tend to change based on whatever I am working on, and current technology. I currently use Genelec monitors for mastering work.
